What services are offered at Smile Wright Dental?
Smile Wright Dental provides a variety of services including, but not limited to: exams, emergency care, cleanings, x-rays, fluoride treatments, silver and white fillings, pulpotomies (baby tooth root canals), white and silver stainless steel crowns (caps), extractions, space maintainers, night guards, orthodontic evaluations and referrals, and referrals to facilities that offer general anesthesia when necessary.
What do you do to help calm anxious patients?
Nitrous oxide (“happy gas” or “laughing gas”) can be used free of charge on anxious patients to help make the dental appointment a more pleasant experience. If a patient cannot tolerate mandatory dental procedures, the option of referral to a facility that offers general anesthesia (putting your child "to sleep") can be contemplated.
Do you "put patients to sleep" when they are getting their dental work completed?
No. If a patient requires general anesthesia (needs “put to sleep”) to get his/her dental work completed, he/she is referred to one of the several several locations preferred by the patient’s parent. The Smile Wright Dental staff will help you with the paperwork, fax it, and assist you in scheduling any necessary appointments. At the proceeding appointment, the patient will get all his/her work completed in one visit under general anesthesia by a pediatric dentist. For patients that require general anesthesia and have significant dental restorative needs, we can make you an appointment at Children's Medical Center of Dayton with a pediatric dentist that specifically sees Dr. Amber's patients. All of your child's dental needs will be completed at one surgery appointment. The child will then return to Smile Wright Dental approximately one week later for a short post-operatory appointment to evaluate the patient's healing progress, and to address any further questions you may have.
Do you accept walk-ins?
Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are definitely accepted upon availability. To schedule an appointment, call (937) 322-5437.
What if Dr. Amber finds a cavity or another dental problem?
At the end of your child's appointment, you will get a full consultation on any dental issues your child may have. Sometimes, especially in emergency situations, some needed dental treatment may be able to be completed on the same day as the patient’s cleaning and/or exam, based on availability. The Smile Wright Dental staff will also assist you in scheduling any necessary follow-up appointments.
